Do You Experience Vertigo?

  “Vertigo”

Do you have vertigo? Have you ever felt like the world is spinning around you?  Vertigo is the term often used to describe any type of dizziness."Dorland's Medical Dictionary" indicates that vertigo is a type of dizziness associated with an illusion of movement, often a spinning sensation, which may be from a disease of the inner ear or from disturbances in pathways in the nervous system. Chiropractic treatment is an option for the treatment of certain types of vertigo. Vertigo is often accompanied with nausea, vomiting, sweating and/or difficulties walking. Quite frankly, it can be extremely difficult to perform daily tasks and the symptoms can be debilitating.

Causes: There are a variety of reasons one may experience vertigo. There are some very serious medical issues that can cause it, but it’s usually a result of less severe issues almost exclusively centered around the inner ear. Your inner ear (aka your vestibular system) is responsible for your sense of balance and spatial orientation. One of the most common causes of inner ear problems (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) occurs when small components -- crystals, for lack of a better word -- are moving around in the ear as you change position. With that movement, you experience the swaying feeling, nausea, etc.

Meniere’s disease is characterized by vertigo, ringing in the ears, hearing loss, and a feeling as though your ear canal is blocked or full of fluid. The exact cause is unknown though it’s thought to have both genetic and environmental factors.

Last among the three most common causes of vertigo is labrynthitis, which is a fancy name for an ear infection. There’s inflammation of the inner ear and the vertigo is a symptom of the infection.

We can help! Can chiropractic help someone who’s dealing with vertigo? Absolutely, chiropractic techniques used to assist in helping the body heal and the patient return to a sense of balance. The primary tool in our bag is the chiropractic adjustment, which allows your nervous system -- your body’s the master control system -- to function at its highest possible level. By adjusting the spine (which encases the nervous system) and facilitating better communication between the brain and the rest of your body, including the ear, lymph and immune system (particularly important if the vertigo is due to an infection), you are positioned for faster healing and with greater ease. The doctor’s also know techniques that can settle the crystals to help the vertigo.

If you or someone you know who is suffering from vertigo discomfort or pain consider Chiropractic as one of your potential powerful options.

Testimonials

Reviews By Our Satisfied Patients

  • "I started to go to Precision Chiropractic and Massage in 2014 for the Ideal Protein program, had a great experience and reached my goal. Then I returned to them a few months ago for massage services, reasonable pricing, both Sharon and Tami are GREAT! Then I started seeing Dr. Schweitzer and Dr. Bennett for my neck, shoulder and back problems, and felt much better just after a few adjustments. Now I take my mom there too for adjustments. I've always had a great experience there, love the front desk ladies! I suggest you go check them out!"

  • "Tami is one of the most caring massage therapists that I have gone to. I tell her what the problem is and she works it out. I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to get excellent massage therapy."

  • "I feel way better since coming to see Dr. Schweitzer. He's helped me with my lower back, hips and even my tennis elbow. I also just signed up for Ideal Protein through his office."
